The New Symposium

INTERNATIONAL FORUM AND RESIDENCY PROGRAM

[for composers, performers, musicologists, researchers, pedagogues, producers, and other practitioners engaged in the field of music and art]

[2026]

As a participant producer, you will:

— Join a residency program for music practitioners, theorists, and researchers.

— Present your work within music production in weekly online sessions, receiving feedback from peers.

— Engage in studies through dialogue with fellow participants, gain new perspectives on music production, and expand your field overview.

— Develop your work through practice, experimentation, dialogue, and analysis with fellow participants at Bled Contemporary Music Week.

— Attend the festival’s symposia, lectures, and concerts, while building an international network of colleagues.

- Possible dispositions for beginner producers include themes such as: learning music production through hands-on experience; developing practical technical skills (software, gear, audio/video editing, archiving, media management); building organisational abilities (booking and coordinating rehearsals, concerts, festivals, commissioning new works, constructing programs); and learning to work effectively with performers, composers, organisers, technicians, and media professionals.

- Possible dispositions for advanced producers include themes such as: developing the skills required for producing concerts, rehearsals, festivals, and events; understanding ensemble structures, needs, and communication; planning and coordinating rehearsals, sound checks, concerts, schedules, stage plans, and technical riders; supporting performers in the realisation of their work; understanding the nature and limitations of instruments; and gaining an informed overview of performer profiles and levels.
